District Explorer Cooking Competition

- added 10 Dec 2007

This year 8 teams entered, 2 teams each From Hungry Hills, Surrey Hills, The Roughs and Downs Link. Theme was Soaps and TV Dramas. Coronation Street to Silent Witness and New Tricks to Neighbours. It was a pretty good turnout. That's enough about the others lets concentrate on Hungry Hills.

We entered Team Coronation Street, and Team Emmerdale. We had to theme everything on the soap from the table decoration to the food. Team Coronation chose Bettys hotpot (vegetarian style) as the main course. We couldn't find a dessert from the soap so as we had to use at least 3 fresh items in the meal we choose fresh fruit and chocolate fondue. Team Emmerdale decided on a fry up.

After a tense two hours of sweat and tears, the judges announced the winners Team Coronation Street of Hungry Hills.

Here are the results of the two teams:
Team Coronation Street - 196 Points 98% of the total available Marks
Team Emmerdale - 142 Points 71% of the total available Marks
From this you can tell that both teams did exceptionally well. According to the judges the overall competition standards were high.
